May Day

05/01/12, 1:30 pm, facing east
The first of May was a warm overcast day about 10 degrees warmer than average at 88 degrees F. Even more impressive for early May was the 93 percent humidity! Since the day was overcast with very occasional light rain, it seemed the air and water was all around us.

With a March that was so hot that it was like our usual May, and an April so cool and damp that it was more like March, what will May bring us?

With all the press reports around the 100th anniversary of the Titanic tragedy, I was pondering the Mayday distress call. Perhaps you already know this, but it comes from the French "m'aider" meaning "help me".
