Early morning snow

03/05/12, 8 am, looking up
We woke to a pretty fall of big, fat snowflakes pouring down through the trees.  Although the snow clung to the grass and cars, it melted on paved areas. It was lovely but not inconvenient.

With about two inches of accumulation, the snow stopped falling by noon and melted by late afternoon. The transition from winter to spring continues.

Snow!

02/19/12, 3 pm, looking northwest
The snow began as sleet around 9 am. By Noon, we had fat, fluffy flakes coming down heavily. The sleet and snow alternated through the afternoon, with snow winning as the day cooled.

By evening, the snow really came down and stuck, meaning it didn't melt when it hit the ground. By 9 pm, we had over two inches in the northside of town and four inches in the east. For a southern town, this qualifies as a more than a dusting.

Sleet, snow, sunset

02/11/12, 6:20 pm, looking west
On Saturday, February 11th, the weather treated us to sleet, snow, thunder and lightning, and a dramatic sunset clearing just before dark. This mass of dark clouds lifted enough to see the last of the sunset colors in the west. It was a dramatic finish to a dramatic weather day.
