On Sunday, October 2nd, this amazing sunset spread across the western sky around 7 pm. Although almost entirely cloudy, gaps of sunlight blazed through in pinks and orange. The day had frequent showers and lots of clouds.
This was a learning experience. The way that I painted this looks like pink-orange clouds against a gray cloud mass. It was more like the reverse, holes of thinner cloud opened up to the setting sun and stained the holes with color. Again, with clouds, it is so difficult to indicate which is negative ans which is positive space. This painting shows negative space as positive.
