Yesterday evening, October 10th, I saw this amazing arrangement of altostratus clouds with the sun peeking through and causing a sunbow on the right. What a delight the skies are.
A sunbow is a prismatic arc of colors resulting from the refraction of sunlight through water, or in this case, water vapor. You'll often see a sunbow in your garden sprinkler on a sunny afternoon. This sunbow was mostly yellow and blue and seemed to shoot through a hole in the clouds.
i found your painting here when I was searching for cloud images for a project. I love clouds, and occasionally, sporadically, try painting them in watercolor as well. they are one of the most fascinating things to paint, constantly changing and so hard to capture. I grew up in Richmond Virginia, love the area, the nature there. I live outside of Seattle Washington now--if you ever travel up here, the clouds are amazing--one of the best parts of the nature here, although all of it is lovely. anyway, I like all of your paintings, and this one is especially nice with the variety of colors.
