Clouds are a challenge to capture in any medium. They are soft with undefined edges, their colors are subtle and dramatic, and, they move, sometimes rapidly. When I started this painting on October 4th at 6 pm, these clouds were in the middle of my paper. By the time I was finished, I was craning my head around the corner to the left to catch a glimpse of their backs!
The sky was otherwise a clear pale blue but for this group of altocumulus moving southward. I was facing west and this cloud group blew away as I quickly painted.
